HESH Brings Light to a Patient Who Has Been “Blind” for Four Years

A patient who has been “blind” for four years came to Shenyang He Eye Specialist Hospital (HESH) in International Day of Disabled Persons. His name is Zhao Jianjun. In 1998, Mr. Zhao’s right eye was blinded by a car accident. His left eye has a severe cataract after three surgeries. Finally, he lost all sight in his left eye until four years ago. In the past years, Mr. Zhao had seen many doctors. But all the doctors refused to operate on his left eye because of the difficulty and high risk of the operation.

When Mr. Zhao learned that the numbers of cataract surgery of HESH has ranked for No.1 in Northeast China for many years, he came to the hospital with the last glimmer of hope. Dean Guo Suping has examined for him and promised to operate. On November 20, Dean Guo performed femtosecond assisted phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation for Mr. Zhao with her excellent surgical skills successfully.
